My Mum taught me all I know about fabric, and she certainly has a lot more to teach me. She is a wizard with piecing material together into an array of fabulously colour coordinated, precisely placed patchwork. She can run up numerous delights from tiny scraps of cloth, has experience with dying fabric and is always quick to tell me exactly what she thinks. She is, therefore, the perfect person to try out some of our naturally dyed fabrics.
My lockdown diary has been somewhat jam packed with distance teaching, return to school, a busy British Science Week, creating a craft space at home and clearing ground for some dye plants in the garden. Mum's lockdown, like many other people's, has been a bit monotonous. I thought I would capitalise on this boredom, I asked if she was up for a challenge to work with some of our logwood blue fabric. I was delighted that she said yes.
Mum was keen that I do the challenge too. I'm concerned that she has rather more time to invest in the challenge (not to mention an awful lot more skill) than I have, but as I sit here thinking about what to make, I am mainly just excited to see what a proper stitcher can do with our blues.
The countdown is on....let the one week challenge begin!
The Madder One.
